9th Mile Cheras - Wan Tan Mee

My jouney to find the best Wan Tan Mee took us to 9th Mile Cheras. Was recommended by locals in that area.

Lat: 3° 4'17.08"N
Lon: 101°46'8.40"E

From a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the best) this Wan Tan Mee I will grade them at 5.5. One thing I find intresting is the green chilli. Most places you will find them being soggy but this is still crunchy.

Total price is Rm23. 2 X Large, 2 X Medium and 1 X Small. Also including of 2 glasses for herbal tea.

My journey for the best Wan Tan Mee continue.

Day 1 in Ipoh. Dinner in Ipoh

For dinner I took my parents into Ipoh town itself. This time i decided to take them to the hawker streets near Odeon Cinema.

Here I go for Curry Mee. I find this Curry Mee above standrad.

Curry Mee

My wife's choice here is the Hor Fan. I find the Hor Fan i bit on the sweet side. Either Aijinamoto or suger. This hor fan is not like to rest that we have tested as it's not kosong as you can see (fish ball and pork slice)

Hor Fan

My son's choice is the Wan Tan Mee. Like father like some, since i do like Wan Tan Mee a lot so has my son. I did not got to take picture of his dish before he dig into it.

Wan Tan Mee

My parents saw some nyonya kuah before we reach the stall and the bought some.

Nyonya Kuih

To my surprise the drink i ordered barley was not what i think it was (as you can see below). Maybe this is some kind barley only to be found in Ipoh.

Ipoh Bail

Day 1 in Ipoh. Breakfast In Gopeng Market

Since Merdeka falls on the hoiday naturally the next day is a holiday. With that we had 3 days off from work and we took drove down to Gopeng (my mom's place). Again before leaving i did some surfing on the net for place to eat and this time hawker food is the choice either in Gopeng or Ipoh.

Day 1 we decided to have our breakfast in Gopeng Market.

Gopeng Market

People talk about white coffee when you are in Ipoh but this time i took my changes with the traditional coffee. I kind of like the coffee as it's nither too sweet nor too strong.

Gopeng Coffe

The wan tan mee here is kind of flat as compare to the one you have in KL. The noodles here either Gopeng or Ipoh is cheap as you do not find much things in it (example wan tan). You will need to order seperately should you require any side dishes.

Wan Tan Mee

My wife choice of food is the Hong Kong Chee Chong Fan. Her choice of filling is the prawn. Again it's nothing to shout about apart from it's price.

Kedai Makanan Laut Hai Ung.Seafood. Kuala Selangor

After a very busy schedule at work the last few weeks I've decided to take my family to an outing. This time we re-visit "Kedai Makanan Laut Hai Ung" to see if the food there is that consistant and also to take down the GPS coordinate. For the address of this restaurant please goto our first posting.

Lat: 3.352151
Lon: 101.249071

This time we took 4 dishes and we make sure that the dishes we order is different from what we had the last time we were here. The dishes are Tom Yam Prawn In Coconut, Ginger Style Bamboo ShellFish, Kong Pow Mantis Prawn and Fried Rice.

Tom Yam Prawn In Coconut.

I am sure that you have eaten Tom Yam Prawn before but this time around the Tom Yam Prawn is cooked and serve in a coconut. As like any other chinese cooking we find it to be abit on the sweet side as we notice that the broth is actually cook using the coconut water itself and as you continue to dig deeper into the diah you will find piaces of coconut meat in it.

Ginger Style Bamboo Shellfish

The bamboo shall fish today is very frash and it's cook with a fair bit of ginger and some chinese wine. As my wife don't eat any shellfish so this dish is all to me.

Kong Pow Mantis Prawn

Whenever we do have seafood there is 2 dishes that we must order. The dishes is either prawn or crab. Here we took the mantis prawn cook in kong pow style.

Fried Rice

While we where having our lunch we could see fisherman coming in to deliver their catch. This time we actually hear the catch is shellfish as you can see the fisherman feeding their catch into a machine to clean and also remove all unwanted shell.

I wander where will our next distination will be?

Bibik Neo and Ole Sayang. Baba & Nyonta. Melaka

We have been planning for our Melaka family outing for some time now and at last the day has come. But before leaving for Melaka, I have done some homework on where and what to eat. Since Melaka is the heritage land of the Baba and Nyonya i have put much effort to search on the web. Two names popped out, Bibik Neo and Ole Sayang. Much has been said about both the restaurants, some say Bibik Neo but some say Ole Sayang.

To put an end we visited both these restaurants,

Bibik Neo,

What we ate here is the asam fish, belacan ubi leaf and not to be missed the ayam pong teh. We were disappointed with the asam fish as it tasted flat and the fish was on the head side. My wife espacially loved the belacan ubi leaf (she is not the type of person that loves vegetables) and as for the ayam pong teh I personally find it tasty but the chicken was abit to bony. Total cost here is RM51.34.

Ole Sayang,

Here we ate Mixed vegetable, udang lemak nenas, tau hu ole sayang and ayam pong teh. To our surprise we find all the dishes to our liking especially for the udang lemak nenas and the ayam pong teh. Here the ayam pong teh is more meaty and the tease is much better. To top it all the total after adding one chendol cost is RM62.79.

Because of the bad weather we miss out the visit to Portuguese Settlement and tease some portuguese food. Our next trip to Melaka we have decided that we shall not miss it. Stay tune for our next postting.
